About‘Herfst vanbinnen’ (Inner autumn) is a site-specific woodcut in a vacant bedroom. An empty room surrounds the wooden floor where a leaf-shaped woodcut is present. The carved form is framed by a square, repeating the wood’s natural flame-like structure. To activate the work, visitors are invited to sit on the floor and press a sheet of paper into the open space of the woodcut, creating a relief print. Because the paper is slightly damp when the prints are made, the leaf-prints curl as they dry.
